IACM EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING (Maryknoll, New York  -  July 5-8, 2003)

bullet

Minutes (word file)

Other Notes from the  Meeting:

Proposed Timetable for IACM executive Tasks, 2003-2008

2003: July 8       Letter to all IACM Executives;

Proposal of the Theme for a missiological Workshop-Encounter in October 2004;

Proposal of a program of activities for the period of 2003/2008.

July 25              Secretarial Report of the Meeting of Executive Board members, Maryknoll, NY 5-7 July;

August 15         Each IACM Executive sends her/his electronic reply to Executive Secretary with a copy to the President and other Board members. This includes feedback that expresses:

1)       Acceptance of proposal without any serious reservations; or

2)       Acceptance of proposal with some reservations, critical observations, suggestions for its modification and improvement, etc.; or

3)       Rejection of the proposal with serious reasons given.

August 20-25     This interchange should lead to a decision that finalizes the proposal.

September        The President drafts the text of the first number of the IACM Newsletter in English and Spanish and sends this to Frs. Roy and Oborji for translation into French and Italian.

These are sent to Sr Madge Karecki for layout, to be sent electronically to Fr Gorski for printing and mailing.  This is an experimental procedure to see how effective it is.

The main content of this Newsletter is to be the official Convocation of all members to the Workshop-Encounter / Assembly to be held in September-October of 2004. This will state the plan to have an Encounter of 40 missiologists, will probe the degree of members’ interest in the Workshop and explain what we expect of them.  This number would also include an explanation of the proposed IACM logo and a description of the origins of the Association from 1996 to its Constitutive Assembly in 2000. The idea is that the IACM Newsletter’s successive numbers offer an historical chronicle of its development.

December-        A second number of the Newsletter “fleshes out” the details of the Workshop and

January             reminds members to send their reply to the Convocation by 15 January 2004.

2004                       Who really plans to come?  Who is willing to contribute academically to the  success of

the Workshop?  How does each participant expect to cover the expense of her/his travel?  Are some members willing to help subsidize the travel of others, particularly from Africa and Asia? If it is seen that there are gaps in the way certain geographical areas are represented, invitations will be sent out to select members from those areas so that their participation can enrich the Workshop.

2004    March 31  We know which 40 members are committed to participate.

May-June          A third number of the Newsletter?

July-August       Major papers are received (for translation and sending to respondents).

September 29    (In the morning) Last meeting of the present IACM Executives: its primary task: to finalize details of the Workshop-Encounter / Assembly.

September 29    (Evening) Inauguration of the Workshop with greetings by the President, an explanation of the program and dynamics and the mutual presentation of the participants.

September 30-  Workshop on issues of missiological language in the Americas and Europe.

October 1          Issues in Africa, Asia and Oceania; input of students and missionaries; recapitulation.
