'To elevate the Maori Women': The contribution of women to Anglican Maori mission work 1900-1945.

A small number of NZCMS women missionaries, together with a few other women, contributed greatly to Anglican mission work among the Maori after the withdrawal of the CMS and the formation of the Maori Mission Board in 1904. The work of these women has received very little attention, a situation that I hope to redress in this paper. After surveying the contribution of women to Maori work in the different dioceses I shall give a more detailed analysis of the life and work of one of these women.
